Mr. Cherniy received his Bachelor of Arts & Science degree in Cognitive Science and Comparative Literature from the University of California, Los Angeles. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the Law Review. While in law school, Mr. Cherniy worked as an extern with Superior Court Judge Richard B. Wolfe and a Certified Law Clerk at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. He has been a member of the California Bar since 2008.

Mr. Cherniy has been representing insurance companies, permissibly self-insured employers, and uninsured employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation since 2009, from the filing of Applications for Adjudication of Claim through trial and appeal. He practiced at a large California workers’ compensation defense firm and was later in-house counsel at an insurance company for more than a decade before joining Wai, Connor & Hamidzadeh, LLP. In those positions, he gained valuable inside perspective into the institutional needs of a workers’ compensation carrier. Mr. Cherniy prides himself on his ability to find the right balance between aggressive litigation and negotiating finesse to resolve litigated claims quickly and cost-effectively for his clients.

When not working, Vitaly likes hiking, reading, watching movies, traveling, playing sports, and video games. Above all, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family. A long-term resident of Los Angeles, Vitaly strives to be a responsible member of his community, a husband worthy of his wife’s affection, and a good example for his children.
